Examination of types of latex |

1- Natural latex The best form of latex is natural latex, which is obtained from the sap of certain plants. The important point here is that this type of latex cannot be produced in very large quantities, which has somewhat limited its uses. Natural latex is a vital agricultural commodity that is used to produce a wide range of industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and medical industries. These days, natural latex is most commonly used in the medical industry, and due to its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, it is mainly used in the production of various disposable gloves. The type of latex used to produce industrial and sanitary gloves, latex clothing and coverings is latex that is obtained from the tissue of a tropical tree called Hevea-Brazilienis or rubber tree and is white in color. Initially, this sap was obtained from the Hevea-Brazilienis tree, which is native to South America. But it is interesting to know that these days the Hevea-Brazilienis tree is found in different parts of the world. Many trees, shrubs, and even bushes, when their body tissue is damaged, produce a milky sap called latex or natural rubber. These saps are found in 10% of flowering plants. (Some fungi also produce latex.) Natural rubber is flexible and resistant, but also contains impurities and is vulnerable to environmental conditions and hydrocarbons. Natural latex hardens when exposed to air, which is prevented from hardening when used in industries and combined with chemical materials and additives, and its elasticity and resistance are utilized. Compared to other rubbers, natural rubber is one of the most flexible types that is vulnerable to oil and unnatural solvents. It is also resistant to cutting, tearing, abrasion and fatigue, and has a high tensile strength. It has a working range between 58 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. With these remarkable properties, it is more preferable than synthetic rubber...
2-Synthetic latex
Using chemical methods, different types of synthetic latex can be produced, each of which is superior in some characteristics. Among all types of synthetic latex, the SBR type, or styrene butadiene rubber or MBR or nitrile butadiene rubber, has the most applications in various industries. In some cases, synthetic latex is used as a substitute for natural latex due to its lower price, lack of dependence on natural resources, and greater manufacturability. Although synthetic and natural latex have similar properties, in some cases, natural latex may require the use of synthetic latex due to the presence of allergens. Also, the strength and flexibility of each type of latex may vary, and one of the two types of latex is chosen depending on the needs of the consumer. Synthetic latexes may be inferior to natural latex in some properties. For example, SBR latex is duller in appearance than natural latex and does not have the high flexibility of natural latex.
3- Mixed latex Hybrid latex is more affordable than natural latex. Hybrid latex is actually made from a large portion of synthetic latex and a portion of natural latex. This type of latex is mainly used because of its affordable price and the fact that it contains a percentage of natural latex. Given that this mixture contains both main types of latex, it can be used in various industries such as: clothing, medicine and many other industries. Finally, although natural and synthetic latex can be used for use in different products, the most important point is that both types of latex must be produced and used in compliance with quality and hygiene standards to be suitable for users in terms of health and safety. |
